Server - New Drives..
just want a bit of reassurance..
We have an Elonex Server with space for upto 6 drives. currently have 1 RAID-5 Array with 3 Drives with 2 partitions (C: OS D: Data). I have purchased 3 larger drives and was wondering of the best way of upgrading. Would This plan work?
- Install 3 drives in the 3 spare slots
- Create a 2nd RAID-5 Array
- Create single large partition
- Copy all data from D: to new drive
- Use Acronis Disk Director Server to decrease size of D: and Increase Size of C:
currently we only have about 100meg left on C: and D: has about 2gig left..
i do not want to go down the route of re-installing the server OS..

You can use Acronis stuff to move your D Partition over to the new drive and then expand the exisiting C.
So your idea sounds fine to me, always do the backups before hand though just in-case disaster occurs!

Well i managed to get the drives installed, created the array..and created the partition in windows.. looked at robocopy gui to copy D: over.. but couldnt get it working.. then ran out of time.. will give the acronis stuff a go next week..
