Right... just to confirm there is indeed a straight through path on the K8600.

The printer comes with this panel pre-installed so you get to take it out when you install the duplexer.

Particularly impressed by the little tray that you can rotate up into position, as it helps you guide the paper/card into the printer properly.. Nice touch.

As to the printer itself, I'm in the process of putting it through its paces now.. Seems rather nice and it handles media beyond the A3 size too.. Quite impressive!

Thanks, good to know that for certain.

Can it print borderless A4 and A3?

I could tell you but then I'd have to kill you

I'll add that to the list of things to test.. something tells me it might not be capable of that but we'll see..

EDIT: OK... that's a yes to the borderless printing however you will want to be sure you're using a reasonable quality media to print on to... My attempt with plain paper resulted in a paper jam on the A3...

As I needed to do this anyway, I've made some inroads on a review of the K8600dn unit here:
    HP K8600

Still a bit to do on actual performance but it's already looking like I might be hanging on to this one rather than selling it on.

Didn't you buy two printers? I'd buy one off you if you're selling one.

I did... but in truth you're better off getting one from HP direct.. that way you get the warranty.. They're still cheap as chips.

Besides the second one is going to be used as a demo machine once I've finally worked out how to remove my foot from my mouth and actually sell my kits

Ah - I want one of your kits too, one of these printers with a CIS kit should go nicely in our new arts block for printing borderless A3 artwork on decent paper. Say when they're available, I'll be first in the queue :-)

Time to go to PM.. I could use your input on one minor aspect of the kit... but to all intents and purposes they're ready to go once my ARC chip order arrives (about 2 weeks from now).

Well, that window of opportunity has now passed...

Someone at HP has finally woken up to the error and the page has been altered to reflect a bit more of a sensible pricing.

Needless to say HP are now trying to argue the toss regarding the price with one of my schools who placed an order before they realised. Rather wish I'd taken a photocopy of the original price now.
