RAID mirror resynch question
In a simple 2 disk windows software RAID mirror, in the event of an unexpected shutdown, will the drives be fully resynch'ed automatically after a reboot?
I wasn't aware it worked like this, but a colleague has 'enlightened me' that this is the case and that it would take hours to resync the drives in the background upon reboot.

It depends on the adaptor, some will resync between POST and booting the OS, some will boot on one drive and sync in the background.
My 400Gb adaptec array takes about 6 hours to sync.

What about software RAID in Windows?
I've not used software RAID in Windows Server before, but I have in XP in the past and I've never noticed it doing this automatically, even after an unexpected shutdown.

I think it does but doesn't say in the Windows Disk Manager that i've noticed. But if you can see each disks individual status you can see it hammering away.
