    VMWare simulating Hardware

Am I getting the wrong end of the stick or should it be possible for VMWare to simulate a Soundblaster card? Simulate as in one isn't installed but I want it to think there is. Not sure if it is possible or I am making up things in my little world.

You can, but you still need a sound card on the machine if you want to hear anything. There is only limited SB16 support and you have to configure the vmx file manually. I know esx doesn't do sb emulation and I'm not sure about server. Workstation does.
