Damn shame though as HD-DVD was nicer to meand they got it all ratified as a DVD standard and everything. Never mind though lots of cheap HD-DVDs for me

Real shame HD DVD lost out - was the peoples value choice I think. Tho better to have the one standard, there was real merit in both formats. Definately a result of some power play. The guys with the biggest cheque books won.

Thank God I held back at Christmas![]()
xbox 360 hd-dvd drives £20 on ebay, some as little as £10, looks like everyone wants to get rid of them now.
Microsoft are looking at bringing out a blu-ray drive for the 360 I believe.
I think we should all be grateful that this 'war' turned out to be quite a short one. Think back to the Betamax and VHS blood bath.
I think it is a shame that HD-DVD lost out, as it appeared more of an 'upgrade' from DVD rather than a new standard which has done nothing but confuse the average punter. Typical Sony throwing their weight around with a new standard but they've finally made this one stick.
Still, dust is now settling, I can now think about an upgrade at home which I've been holding off. Just need to persuade the wife that a PS3 would be the best device for HD playback right now!!!
