We've been buying Acer's of late as they are cheap but fairly well specced.

We tend to deal with a local supplier AMC Computer Supplies Ltd on 01536 711557 who seem small but always willing to help out.

Talk to Darren Smith, my accounts manager. I've never had to send any of the 40 odd I've had back. Nor have I had to send back any of the 100's of desktop PC's back. They can customise for you as well.

Try these guys www.lanway.co.uk - we have purchased 20 Toshiba laptops and 200 monitors from them. Pretty good service.

I generally buy my Toshiba laptops through XMA or Misco. Prices are pretty competitive from both companies.

Indeed another vote for Misco. We've purchased 180 Toshiba Satellite Pro's from them.

What do people think of their Toshibas? I've just replaced my (home) Toshiba laptop at less than 3 years, and have had a catalogue of issues with it in that time. One of the reasons I bought it was because it was cheaper than the Acers and HPs out there, but I can't help but think that there was a good reason why it was cheaper!

I've been getting Toshibas from Misco for the teachers and they love them. Mind you, they are replacing the Viglen Dossier NS! Misco always give us A1 service and price. When we cocked-up a cashback deal, they fought tooth and nail to get us our money.

The latest satelitte pros have been really good.

we've got about 80 of them now, and I've only had one with a board error - sent it to tosh, fixed, sent back. No worries.

We have about 80 Toshibas and at any one time about 4/5 are at Toshiba being repaired under warranty, we also have about the same number of Ergos which have proved to be very reliable.

Not only are they not reliable the faults are usually PCMCIA slots VGA socket power supply... the response from Toshiba is always to replace the board. We have one which has been back 4 times in the past 6 months.

We will not be buying anymore Toshibas!!

Apologies for copying an earlier reply to this forum!

in terms of service and support you can't beat dell, whether it be for optiplex desktops or latitiude laptops. We get next day on site repair as standard for our kit. They're phone support are brilliant at talking you through what to check to narrow down the problem (typically motherboard replacment when there is a fault).

Service engineers are very professional and efficient.

And their lattitude range are vastly underrated as laptops.

At my last place of work they began a process of replacing old and retiring their equipment in favour of Dell with 3yr NBD on everything. The after-sales was key factor in that decision.

Not been impressed by the quality of the newer Toshiba kit myself, I like the current line of HP kit and been impressed by it and the support.

HP are doing the HP 530 Notebook PC (KQ630AA) laptop on their site for £311 but there's an e-voucher promotion code - HPOPTF - and you get £40 off. I've just bought one for me Mum for Mother's Day:

    http://h41306.www4.hp.com/section?SI...23&secid=75083

Offer ends soon I think. The laptop isn't bad spec either:

Operating system installed: Genuine Windows Vista® Home Basic
    Processor type: Intel Core Duo T2400 / 1.83 GHz ( Dual-Core )
    Memory: 1GB
    Internal hard disk drive: 120 GB - Serial ATA-150 - 5400 rpm
    Optical drive type: DVD±RW (+R double layer) / DVD-RAM
    Display size: 15.4" TFT active matrix 1280 x 800 ( WXGA )
