    dHP dx2300 with...FreeDOS...? eh?

    How bizarre.

    Just thought I'd take a look at how much our usual machines are going for these days.

    Noticed the Vista machine had gone and in its place...FreeDOS!

    I wonder what the thinking behind that is?

    I'd guess it just gives you the option to put "something else" on the PC without having to pay an MS license fee.

    Not sure about the schools agreement but the Campus agreement means that machine like this are no use (unless we are going to use Linux). Campus allows you to upgrade any version of Windows to whatever version you choose but you must have a valid Windows license (we normally buy XP Home because it's cheapest!)

    srochford is right, it is due to the rule from the EU that says that all new machines should be sold with an OS, to help combat software piracy. (I can't remember the specific ruling etc...)
