Lightbulb Integrated Display Systems / Digital Signage

Hi,
I would like to install an integrated display system around our school. We are thinking along the lines of 6 x 32" LCD screens located in different areas of the school all connected and displaying the same content.

I’m not sure how it would all work but it would be nice if it could be managed centrally on one of our servers. Dumb terminals would be ideal rather than each monitor having its own computer. I don’t know how the physical side of things would work but perhaps using network cables direct to a display. Does anybody have any ideas on what hardware or software we could use to make this happen?

Digital signage is what most people refer to this as.

Yep, and hopefully, the similar threads box will update with actual similar threads :P

Digital Signage would be the term to search for though, as it has been discussed about a bagillion times. :P

The similar threads functionality works on the basis of thread titles. If the thread title is too generic or just plain wrong then it'll have difficultly finding relevant similar threads. I have renamed this thread to fix it.

Wonderful, makes sense too - having it work from the thread could increase server load just a little :P.

With that being how it works, it may be that more staff will be needed at some point to alter all the poor titles :P I know I regularly choose poor titles due to not knowing the correct way of naming something or the correct terminology.

Feel free to use the 'report post' functionality to report badly named threads. Also don't forget you can use the tagging to associate correctly but differently named threads that cover the same subject together.

@pat_K: I take it you didn't come to BETT....

Oliis and Navaho have loaned us two screens for our stand and they are quite nice. Ring Nathan at Oliis on 0845 456 8556 and they'll be able to sort you out with a demo.

An update on these....

I was at a meeting yesterday with Navaho and the Mediacat system is getting MUCH better very soon - I'm sworn to secrecy though I'm afraid.

You should be able to get these great new screens soon from Westwood Associates (tel. 01753 881810).

Pat_K

We are able to supply you with a quote for Digital Signage, in particular a Navaho solution. Also as we are partnered with Navaho and can supply everything including screens, media, installation etc.

As Ric_ mentioned, I previously provided him a Navaho solution which I am sure he would have no problem discussing with you.

Please do not hesitate to contact me for more information or a quote.
