    Laptops @ BETT2008

Ok chaps and chapesses i am off to BETT tomorrow primarily to check it out and bone up on the latest gizmo's including V.L.E and some special needs software. But i also need some laptops and figured i might be able to cut some deals there. i have a budget of around £400-£450 per laptop and looking at maybe a Lenovo Thinkpad R60 or an Acer Extensa.

What are your thoughts on best buy for the money and Can you get Laptops without an OS as i already have a site licence for XP Pro and it may keep the price down.

Not had an R60 and I avoid Acer like the plague following a "support experience" but on the non-OS question Novatech will provide this... pretty sure there's some others too but can't remember off the top of my head.

Thanks Contink, i must admit that the jury is out as far as acer goes here. i have 12 aspire's (legacy kit) which at present haven't posed too much of a problem and i haven't had to call the service desk yet. however i have picked up that they can be flaky and that its not even worth wasting oxygen speaking to the service desk. my gut feel is probably the lenovo or maybe even a tosh or Dell depends on price.

thanks for the heads up on Novatech i'll check them out.

We have R60's and I'd recommend them

Mmmmm i may go up the Novatech route as i can pretty much halve my outlay which will leave me free to beef up the comp room with some up to date desktop's.

anybody know of anyone other than Novatech that supply kit without an OS? then i can compare spec and price.
