Rep Power: 39 | http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AAdku9YhSCI Speaking of Asus, A friend of mine was in PCworld a few days ago and said they have the Asus eeepc for £200 inc VAT. (everywhere else I've only seen them for £200 ex). The pissy world staff didn't know much about them though, no change there then. |

Rep Power: 8 | I won't even go to the door of PCWorld let alone buy anything from them. They are an insult to IT. |

![]() | We could do with some of them. The kids have managed to smash 3 hard glass monitors in 2 weeks! |

Rep Power: 18 | kids don't get any major punishments for damaging ICT equipment at our school. Ocassionally a detention may be handed out, but generally nothing it's always an 'accident' That's why most of our brand new machines have had the drive bay blanking plates pushed into them, this takes a lot of force, we've tried it ourselves, and we literally had to punch it to get it to move! (not ONE staff member has reported this yet!) We loose around 5 mice a week (even though they are tied to the machines, bloody kids cut the cable ties!) we regularly find machines where keyboards and mice have been unplugged and moved from machine to machine, or in one case, the entire machine had been moved by a student!! The teachers swear blind they never see any of this stuff take place. I've learned to just accept it now, but it used to really annoy me the amount of vandalism and interference with the machines that took place. I've given up tidying up the rooms now only lasts about an hour if I'm lucky! Mike. |

![]() | Things do not tend to go missing here but the trick with the blanking plates is common. They kick them in and leave them in the case. Z |
