Default Looking for a New TFT

This is for home.
I have seen stuff like this This which looks good for the price. I know it's native resolution is 1280x1024 unlike the 1600x whatever of the more expensive ones but I wont be running games at that res so theres not much point. Contrast ration is only 700:1 as compared to 1000:1 of the expensive ones.
Any gamers out there like to input anything abou their experiences with TFTs.
The response time states 8msec as well which seems to good for a panel of that size as well

Cheers

Chris

Neovo and Xerox make the nicest looking IMHO - glass filters.

If you don't mind going down-market, Stuart will be able to sort you out with a nice Trinitron/Diamondtron CRT for a handful of punds - I think 19" ones are about £50 but he also has HUGE 21" jobs too. Plus there's all manner of TFTs but I don't like those so I don't ask

I've gone through all sorts of TFT's.

At school here we are experimenting with some class fronted TFT's to stop little fingers drawing pretty patterns from www.novatech.co.uk (Contact is Gary Hogg on 02392 322535). Great spec and would be great at home.

I've been user Relisys at home, a 17" TFT that's now a year and 1/2 old. Cost about £200 at the time. I've been also buying a lot from www.ebuyer.com. Very very good prices. Good choice as well. It all depends on what spec you want.

I want a 19inch for gaming at home. I just thought the spec of the one I posted was too good for the price.

Remeber the response time rated is only valid for low colour depths. Typically 16bit or even 8bit. If you bump the colour depth up to 24bit or 32bit then the display lag will be an order of magnitude slower. You can quite safely double the response time or more. Clearly this ruins the displays suitability for broadband FPS gaming....

I know they are about £30 more expensive than standard 17"s but they look so sharp, and pure black as well. Highly recomended. We are now putting 6 into a computer suite and see how they last.

Just out of interest, how many of you have had normal membrane coated TFT's die due to vandalism/abuse/misadventure?

However, anything under 20ms is ok. Thats about as fast as human reactions get.

Fair enough you need to factor in your network latency too, however most games will compensate for that.

OTOH if you really do have fast reactions you might want to consider a career change.

As fit and as strong as I am with a 110 kg bench press I also have the weakest back in the world due to a cracked disc so I would never pass the medical .
