    Alternative to Chromebook

    Hi All,

Our learning support department are looking for a device that is instantly ready to use, they can type on, they can print from. They have suggested chromebooks, these are an option but we don't have a printer that will support them and I'm not sure how well they will work with regards to the user having to have a google account.

My ideal solution would be a netbook with a SSD in, but I'm not sure I'll get one for the money, not even a refurb

So my question is, are there any alternatives for the same money (£200)?

    order of importance

    1. less than £200
    2. ready to use in less than 30 seconds
    3. Able to type on (so tablets are not much good)
    4. Able to print (doesn't have to be network printing, a usb port will do)

not so important but would be useful

    5. access the internet
    6. save work (and even better to a network location)
    7. support multiple users

    thanks,

    Mike

less than £200 i suspect youre going to be out of luck. Toshiba do some 7/8" windows tablets you can get a keyboard for, surface rt, asus vivotab you might get one for around that ballpark

HP Chromebook 11-1132UK WiFi - Black Deals | Pcworld

This is what they have suggested, which would be available to us for about £175, surely there is something similar which doesn't require a google account

I couldn't promise you less than 30 seconds to launch, probably 30-60 seconds.

But I could do you a HP 6910p laptop (2GHZ dual core CPU, 4GB RAM, 120GB SSD, 12 Months RTB) for £190?

They run win 7 pro just fine
