We have just had a HP Colour Laserjet 2550l forced upon us from the Reception Staff
. We had to exchange this with a brand new HP Officejet 6310 All-In-One.
We have not yet used the laser - but we know that it is very noisy.
Any one got one? What do you think of it?

Yeah, we had 2 of these. Only one is working now. They are prone to loosing sync with the colours. I managed to fix it on a temporary basis by re-flashing the firmware. Didn't last long.
If you want my honest opinion, get rid as soon as you can. More trouble than it is worth. The only HP printer that we have had that I wouldn't recommend though.
If you want a nice HP colour laser try the 3800, there is also a duplex model. We have a normal 3800N & the 3800DTN. Been happy with them so far, toner does cost a bit though.

We've got six of these and touch wood we haven't had any problems with them. Bloody expensive to run though :-(

keep your eye on them tech_guy. I would be amazed if you don't have one go down sooner or later. Unless we have just been unlucky of course, but according to our Printer service engineer they are prone to problems.

We have a couple of these, they are damn noisy and expensive to run (they seem to get through drums almost as quick as toners!)
They have been quite reliable thou, but they aren't in very high useage areas.

@maniac where do you source your drums from & how much do you pay?
@kestrel1 thanks for the advice - we've had others warn us of the problems these machines can have.

We have a few and they haven't broken down yet although they can be expensive to run. The drum does a maximum of 20000 pages, but they keep fairly quiet about the fact that a colour print does 4 runs on the drum, so they reckon you will realistically get around 8000 pages from a drum.
If there's no mono printer in the room it might be worth setting up 2 printers in windows - one with B&W preferences set up; one with colour - then make the B&W printer default.
We get our drums and toners from www.suppliesforschools.com

@ Tech_guy
I don't know where we get them from or at what price, I don't have the responsibility for ordering them. I'll try and find out for you if you like.
