Dell Optiplex 380 replacement plates needed urgently

    Hi

We have had about 15 computers vandalised by students removing the front blanking plates from our Dell Optiplex 380 desktops. Anyone know where i can source replacement covers for them? I need them for the floppy drive and cd drive.

They just failed their PAT test because of this so i need them up and ok asap.

    Cheers

I may have some from some old optiplex 280s and 520s if they'll fit. Would need to check however as I am not sure what is being done with the machines.

This was quite a few ago now, but the last time we got a quote from Dell for some OptiPlex blanking plates they were 17 EACH!

Do you have a laser cutter in your Technology department, we just get them to cut a perspex blanking plate that sticks over the top of the whole blanking plate area, much cheaper.

Not that it helps now, but find a cheap supplier of superglue as well!

Just looking into this now: Are you after blanks for the small form or the larger Desktop model?

If ICT DIRECT cannot help you, speak to a company called Upgrade Options. They are a reseller of new and old spares and accessories.

We have a lot of gx620s (sff and desktop ver) that are being scrapped. I will see if they have any blanking plates in them. Off today but will have a look tomorrow.

For the optical drives slots stick some old actual drives in them from old pc's and just leave them disconnected inside, job done.

    Hi the SFF.

Got Dells quote back. 302.88 for 10 think it might be some plastic and superglue!

Wow! They have gone up in price a lot.

Can you get the parents of the students who did the damage to pay?
