Kyocera 5350DN error message: Call service 2830:0058523

Can anyone shed any light on what this error code is, please?
The printer has been getting noisier and jamming frequently and now just emits a few thumps and this error message is shown.
    Thanks.

You could give Kyocera support a ring. They have always been very helpful with me Telephone support | Support | KYOCERA Document Solutions Serviceworld - downloads, drivers, documentations, utilities

I think you will just need to supply them with your serial number of the printer. Is it still in warranty?

I don't know it exactly. But the 2830 is the error code. 0058523 is the page count. You can probaly confirm that from the web interface if you can't print a status sheet.

I don't know 2830 but error messages in the 2000 range for Kyocera I've know have been motor issues along the paper path somewhere. If not the rollers then the tray lift motors.

That's my best guess I'm afriad.

Don't have a 5350 Service Manual but the 5300 manual says that code 2830 is a defective Developer K motor. If you have another FS-5350 it would be worth swapping them over. The manual says to check harness and connections, check for broken/missing gears, and replace the Developer unit. Are you using genuine toners or 3rd party/refilled ones? I have seen a similar problem before when using a refilled toner cartridge and a small piece of plastic mysteriously came out of the toner and jammed inside the Developer unit. Luckily on that occasion I managed to fish it out, needless to say we stopped using the toner supplier after that.

Thanks to all for your quick replies. It is good to know that people with your experience are willing to give people without
    (like me!) the benefit.
It looks like it could be a fairly expensive bit of damage!
I will investigate further in the area you have indicated.

The roller on the transfer unit at the K toner end appears to have started to disintegrate and is very deformed. It has also pierced the belt which runs across it, meaning the entire transfer unit will need replacing at a cost of about 272 for parts (+vat).
The faulty part can be removed by: removing all toner cartridges, clicking out the 4 vertical pieces on the right hand side (looking from front to back) and undoing the 2 screws holding the transfer unit.
We may instead go for a new printer!
Once again, thanks for all your help.
