    DVD will show on the projector but you get a blank screen on the laptop. This can be overcome only if you have a certain graphics card. There is a overlay setting that you change to the external port and then it works on both laptop and projector.

    This works vise versa aswell

    In the task bar is there an gfx icon, intal/ati etc ? Right click and select which displays you want to use, Have found in past certain makes work better using this optio as apposed to FN+F5 etc

    ah yes, that's what happens at the moment. I just wondered if the bios option overrode the behavior.

    No but if it has the overlay setting then this combined with the bios / software simultaneous setting works. If the graphics software that comes with the laptop is standard then you may need to download the appropriate update to get these advanced options. For example Nvidia go update.
