We do some colour printing from within Pageplus which takes ages to process on an OKI C5300 colour printer. The pp documents aren't particularly large (between 3 and 5MB typically) but they are colour intensive e.g full colour backgrounds. The OKI is equipped with 64MB RAM
which is fine for most printing tasks and enables us to print duplex.
What kind of upgrade will most help with reducing this processing time for these pp documents in particular. I've got a Kyocera FS-C5030N which i could replace the oki with, the kyocera has 128MB RAM and I can either add additional memory and/or add an internal hard disk. Which upgrade step is likely to make the most difference - HD or memory upgrade ?
Or any other suggestions for speeding up the printing if at all possible ?
Print jobs are spooled on a Windows 2003 box, and the printer is connected to the network at 100mbps. All other documents print within the suggested ppm estimates given by manufacturer (colour and bw). Printing these colour pageplus documents is insanely slow
