I have a HP nx6110 laptop in which the wireless card has stopped working. The hardware switch light will not illuminate and the card cannot be seen from within Windows or Linux. There are no mini-PCI or wireless options in the BIOS.
I have tried a wireless card from another nx6110 but this had no effect.
I have upgraded the BIOS to the latest release and this has also had no effect.
I am starting to think that the mini-PCI slot is either disabled somewhere or plain broken... I'm not sure how to investigate further... any ideas?
Have you tried putting the possibly dead card into another, known working laptop to test it. If it works in another laptop then you can cross the card off the list of suspects.
Also as a long shot have you tried blasting the mini pci slot with compressed air just to make sure there is nothing lodged in there.
