Hi
just learnt something new today and that is host based printing, which means the print job is processed by the pc rather then the printer, making printers cheaper.
so printing pdf's and other docs fails with an error 50% of the time ( for us anyway)
According to HP they know about the issue but it isnt thier issue, even thoguh they dont mention that it is a host based printer on the website.
read more here hp forums
now what i want to know is anyone esle has had this issue and if you managed to get a refund from hp against a proper printer, even though printers are a few weeks to a few months old

Thanks for sharing that... I was unaware that printer manufacturers had gone this route so that's something else to keep a weather eye out for.
Just as a thought, have you set your printer defaults to print when last page is spooled?... That might help a little

We've got lots of HP3600 printers, and have had problems with PDFs, Outlook calendars and Excel spreadsheets not printing correctly. However I solved the problems by turning off 'advanced printing options' in the printing preferences, they then seem to print reliably.
Didn't realise they were host based thou. That would explain why the problems only started occuring after I updated the drivers to try and solve a different problem.
