One for the Musically inclined EduGeeks

After much digging around for reasonably priced and useful kit we had settled on the Alesis multimix 16 (firewire) as half-decent kit.

Then we find that we are shipped the USB 2 version as the firewire version is unavailable now ... ok ... then we get to the problem.

The only version of the USB2 one you get now aggregates the left channels and right channels into single channels ... so you are only getting a single left and a single right going through to the computer ...

We want a 16 I/O box but that is as many channels as we want to manipulate on the software.

I am now packaging them up again for shipping back and looking to get a single MotU 24 I/O unit ... but it is a tad costly.

Can anyone recommend a decent device we could get that would be happy with Logic / Cubase / etc?

From another list I have been told a certain supplier is doing deals on Phonic kit ... and the Phonic Helix Board 24 is on a good offer atm.

Not used Phonic before ... any good?
