Default Agfa Snapscan Touch Scanner

Has anyone got one of these?
I have installed it on an XP machine with no problems initially - hardware seen, software installed, all ready to play..... BUT when I access the software, I get a message to turn on the Scanner, which is of course already on.
I have tried reinstalling the software, before and after connecting the scanner, and I don't quite know what to do now.

Any ideas?

I've had problems with Agfa SnapScan scanners, not that model I will say though, but seems to be related to XP and the fact that Agfa didn't make scanners for XP let alone really 2000.

I recall fixing one for someone years ago, I think I had to use the Agfa drivers from their website, not on the CD, but I don't think the bundled scanning software worked - you had to capture with the Microsoft Office tool, a paint package or through the control panel (scanners and cameras)

The scanner is unlocked, isn't it? I know I spent a while trying to figure out what the problem was with a new scanner once only to find I hadn't moved the locking switch (bottom of the scanner) into the "unlocked" position.

Nope. Not a sausage. The best I can think of is to wipe and re-install Windows - it sounds as though something is possibly conflicting with scanwise.exe. Is there any other hardware plugged in to the machine for scanwise to get itself confused about? How old is the machine, i.e. how long ago was Windows installed and how has the machine been used since? If this is a user's machine it could have all sorts of random bits of software (and/or malware) floating around.

SNAPSCAN TOUCH IS NOW WORKING
what i did uninstall the prog with uninstaller from total commander and also cleared all from the register. then i went to install new hardware connecting the usb plug.it went fine.i was asked to opening several windows .and put it all together. what happens that some times we dont read the small letters.
as we do very much because we all do that.after that i installed snapscan and run the exe file with no problem.

thank you very much to assist Roberto Lijs

EDIT: realised I was referring to the Fujitsu ScanSnap which is a whole other product... and better supported it seems!
