RM Notebook 310 - Replacement screen
We've had one of our laptops broken because a USB left on the keyboard [First one, I feel like a real tech now.] and RM won't fix it under warrenty as it's "accidental damage". Fair enough.
We recieved a form saying we agree to any repairs <£200 [with >£200 needing further approval] along with a notice on it saying if we don't agree to >£200 we still have to pay £55 for delivery.
I had a look about online and a screen on it's own is about £45. Does anyone know how RM's prices compare to this? [I know theirs includes fitting and testing it as well.]

You could always get them to quote for just the screen and fit it yourself, it's an easy enough job.
EDIT ... If it's any help, they quoted me £95 for a replacement for a notebook 300 last year ... that's just for the part, I fitted it myself.

If you can't fit a screen as an IT tech you need to learn, so I would advise just ordering the screen off them and sorting it yourself - will give you some valuable experience as it won't be the last!
Most screens are easy to fit however I have seen some stupid HP designs recently and a very bad Dell that required almost the whole machine to be disassembled first!

I got a quote back just after I posted this.

I'm tempted to send them a link to the £45 one and tell them to try again.
I can. It's just that it's still under warranty, and I have a bad feeling RM will refuse to fix it ever again if I replace the screen. [voided warranty.]
