    HP Netbook frozen touchpad

    Hi

We've had an ongoing issue where every now and then users report that the touchpad has frozen on the HP Mini 110s that we use in the classrooms. I worked out that somehow it is being disabled, but can't work out how, as the profile is pretty locked down - to the point that I can't re-enable it. I discovered that it only applies to the user logged in at the time, but the only way I've found to rectify is to delete the profile. It's not a complete disastor, but the teachers don't have admin rights, so they all come to me - several a week at the minute.

I checked on the HP website and found that the driver version we had was a couple later than the recommended version. I was planning to roll back, but realised that after I'd uninstalled the recent driver, the touchpad was still working anyway - presume Windows just treats it as a PS2 HID. So my question is: Do you reckon I should I just leave it without the driver and trust that MS will do a better job than synaptics, or is it worth trying the recommended driver?

    Thanks

If it's the same HP style touchpad we have here, you just double tap the dot in the top left corner of the touchpad to enable/disable it.

Excellent - I'll give that a go. I looked for ages on Google and submitted a case to HP - obviously asked in the wrong place

Just tried this - problem solved.

There is no dot or any other kind of marking on the touchpad, but your solution worked exactly as described.

    Thanks again
