    Dim projector and dim me

    Hi,

I took a risk and bought a Sanyo PLC-XE31 from an IT recyclers. It didn't come with a remote and these things are buttonless so I got a cheapo one from ebay and after switching it on it was very dim. The bulb warning was on so I thought I would buy a new bulb as even the cost of the projector and a bulb it would still be a bargain... but its still too dim to use.

Anyone got any suggestions? I think its only a 1500 lumens projector but all the lights have to be off to watch it.

I think 1500 Lumins is made for a light controlled envronment. How big are you projecting and onto what surface?

My projectors are 2600 Lumins they'll work in modest light.

Think its my fault, I never buy less than 2500 but this looked liek a bargain. Think i will need to sell all the lights need to be off and the curtains drawn to use it.

1500 lumens is low but on some projectors you can make them even dimmer. Have a look in the settings and see if someone has put it in eco mode or something equally as daft.

the LCD is probably clouded, we have had 1500 lumens and lower that have been ok in a classroom.

Given it a right good clean, stripped it down as far as I dare and blasted it with air. Still poor. Might be back on ebay as a home theatre projector.
