"Hide" function not working on HP projector

Has anyone ever taken a HP projector to bits? if so, is any part of the "hide" mechanism a mechanical shutter?

The reason I ask is that I have a "VP6121" that, when you press "hide" on the remote, displays a message along the lines of "press hide again to cancel hide mode" - but doesn't hide the input....

Nothing I can see in the menu helps - any ideas anyone?? the only thing I can come up with is a moving part (or not!) problem...

Agreed, I would very much doubt it's uses a mechanical shutter (it would block the words).

We bin our HP projects at any sign of trouble.

If you're anywhere near Gloucestershire, I might have vp6121 you can take to bits.
