ClickView 24-7 Setup
Hi all,
I've been having issues with our 24-7 server (It's one of the original ClickView Models) and was thinking of making a new box for it to reside on, just wanted to know what setups people are running elsewhere, whether they are clickview boxes or something that you have built. Machine spec and O/S info would be great, and if anyones had issues with building their own box.
Cheers.

Does it still have to be XP Media Centre Edition?

Ours just plain xp pro. No media centre, we use the software for the recording.

Not for a 24/7 box you won't. (Unless they have made MAJOR changes) Ours is an oversize tower with 3 twin tuner cards, and 7 HDDs. One for the OS, and one each for for the recorded channels.
As to the OS, I can't rememeber, and have just had a look. Only it isn't working... Why did no one tell me, or anyone else?
Edit - Scrub that; the graphics card or monitor is FU, but I can remote in. Win7 Pro, 2Gb i3

That is the setup we have but on an older spec machine. I was told that it had to run XP Media Centre, as the machine won't cope well with win 7. Will contact ClickView support and see what they say about building a new box.

Ours is the same, 3 twin tuner cards, 7 HDD.
I'd definitely speak to ClickView support, they are very good

Mine is a ClickView built (4 years ago) box. I have talked to support and If i build my own they won't support me if i have issues, but I cannot afford to buy a newer box or have the one I have refurbed, so looks like i should get comfy between my rock and the hard place. At least for now.

1st February 2013, 10:50 AM #11 We have an oldish 24/7 here. Windows Xp media centre. I rebuilt it last week after it failed.
Uses a Asus motherboard, 6 sata drives, 3 tv cards and it runs from an IDE hard drive.
Is there anything in particular you want to know?

Not really, I am in the process of attempting to rebuild our 24/7 box (by the sound of it you have the same one as us) and if that fails again I am just going to create my own.

1st February 2013, 11:19 AM #13 We spoke to them and they sent us a link to create a recovery USB stick. I'm having a look on my drives to see if i still have it somewhere.

They sent me an image to use to reinstall my system too, but neither me nor their support guy could make it work.
I did a manual re-install of everything instead and had them dial in to check settings and do the final setup and the darn thing just kept falling over. We finally got it working for about a day, and then it just stopped recording channels.
I think the only way to solve my issues at the moment is a different machine.

1st February 2013, 11:33 AM #15 I'm glad it wasn't just me that had issues with their recovery script. Turned out it wouldn't work with the DVD plugged in.
I take it you've run checks on the memory and hard drive prior to installation ?
