I know this has been asked before, but it was in 2011, I now seem be having so much problems with the plc-xe40 that i think i would rather look for an alternative than keep getting it fixed.
does anybody have any newer more reliable models avalible and if they had any trouble mounting.
Hitachi CP-D10 might be an alternative? it does 80" screen from approx 1m
Epson EB-420 also works from those sorts of distances but you'll need to speak to an AV installer really as the brackets etc.... might need modifying to work.
think i need to see if anybody has already converted a promethian set up without too much moding
Those projectors throw a similar sized image from a similar distance from the screen.
All you'd probably need to do is alter the mounting bracket to suit due to the positioning of the lens on the XE40.
If you use an AV firm speak to them or get one in for the first one
Hi, We have just installed a Epson EB420 XGA Short Throw and used a universal mount which fits on the promeathen V1 pole. Mount available from: RA Technology (Part # RA 4.3 PM 100) RA Technology, Projector mounts and cages
When mounting we found that the angle we had to install the projector at pulled the power lead, vga lead etc too tight from within the boom arm. We had no spare play at the other end so had to reduce the length of the boom arm by around 3 inches.
Projector is much better than the Promeathean upgrade route, especially as it comes with the quick corner keystone function, so you can get a great image thats fits the IWB.
I'll have a look at that set-up
My colleague VeryPC_Tom knows a bit about projectors with his dealings with our education customers and has some good contacts so maybe worth popping him a PM if you don't use an dedicated AV firm.
