    lol believe me none of it ends up in the skip. Most does go to local schools or just people who are after PC's. If there is any leftover in future though I will let you know

    Have to be honest I wasnt aware you could do that until I read this thread. I mean I know manufacturers are supposed to do it but I thought they would refuse if it wasnt old kit made by them.
    In future we will try that

    If HP sell you a new PC to replace an existing one I thought they had to take 1 PC away be it a HP or a DIY built one

    This is true if you are an home user, but it does not apply to buisness to buisness. The manufacturer can charge for the disposal service. Some compaines like Dell don't but others will charge up to £35.00 per system so its worth asking before ordering new kit. There are plenty of free disposal services around the country, we use LCWS and have had a good service.

    Re: WEEE disposal costs!

    Well i've just got rid of nearly 90 seven year old systems using LCWS. These were efficient, collected free and were done in about half hour. Looked into other places and a lot were saying £5 per crt, £3 per base unit so it would have cost us a lot to dispose of our old kit.

    I'll be using LCWS probably before the end of the hols as i've still got kit to get rid off.

    We have used http://www.recycle-it.ltd.uk/ on 3 occasions and will probably be using them again come September - they have never charged us in the past.

    BTW

    @garthsmojo:

    Are you sure you are not affiliated with this company in any way? Of all your posts they all give a mention to lcws.

    I am not affiliated with them. They do such a good job i think someone should let people know. We have not only had all our old kit taken away for free but they have also found us 6 promethian active baords with projectors saving us £11000. They fitted the local cathederal with a IT learning suite and refitted the local charity theatre company with new IT kit in thier offices and booking office.

    I think these guys are great and if anyone out there is need of anything get in contact with them.

    I guess it's just weird that EVERY post you have made relates to IT disposal in some way and in most cases, that company is also mentioned. I'm sure you can understand why alarm bells were ringing... most people who post here usually participate in more then one type of discussion

    Not the mention the fact that companies who are found to be advertising in this way (i.e. pretending to be someone they are not) are looked down on in a very bad way here, as that is deceit and, in affect, theft. It has happened before.
