Discount To Handheld Learning 2009
When conference line-ups get announced it is not very often you see the name Malcolm McLaren, the man credited with creating the Sex Pistols, and Tim Brighouse the former Commissioner for London Schools together but with the Handheld Learning Conference that is exactly what you get.
The conference that is now in its fifth year has grown from strength to strength and is well established as the leading worldwide conference on the use of handheld technology in education.
If you wanted a who’s who in education then the people announced for the schedule so far would be at the top of the list. People such as John Davitt, Tim Rylands and Elisabeth Hayes.
But along with the announced speakers so far there is the Research Strand providing some feedback of the latest research on handheld learning.
On the Tuesday evening there is the Handheld Learning Awards. This event is becoming the ‘BETT Awards’ of the handheld learning arena showcasing the best work around the UK.
As well as the conference on the Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. There is also an event on the Monday open to all the public.
The Monday event includes among other things: A Learners Y Factor in which invited students get the chance to showcase their work to a live audience and a judge’s panel. It also includes a Pecha Kucha for 21st Century Educators where anyone can showcase their ideas. But you have only 6 minutes and 40 seconds to use exactly 20 slides that automatically advance every 20 seconds.
If you are interested (or want to learn more) about handheld learning then this is the conference for you to attend.
