I don't think you can force people to post, as some people are happy just to read posts and gain knowledge from there. However a monthly e-mail reminder say, would be a good idea and the e-mail could have some content that encourages posting.

This would give us a reminder and let us know that anyone can post.

As to nusiance messages. You will always get this and it is best ignored. The only reason someone posts nusiance messages is to get atention. Take the attention away and they also go away.

Well I have not posted for a while but it nice to see ppl enjoying the website I am loving it for the resources and with the conference comming up aswell bonus

It is just a shame that there are some sad ppl out there try to destroy it

..and there are some of us who feel we are don't know enough to be able to contribute to the general flow of things but who have small areas of knowledge/insight where they can add something to the discussion.
I'll be honest here and say that as I scan some of the posts I'm left scratching my head as to what you're on about, but that's good because it gives a lot of us something to aim for, and leads to researching the subject -
Wife to me on a Saturday evening, "are you working?"
"no, it's research"
"so it's work then?"
You can't get much past them.

Some good points mentioned, there are plenty of lurkers out there, but i like the email suggestion, tis like a keepalive. also it keeps the db size down

I think you're right on there beeswax. I try not to post indiscriminate posts- but this darned place can be addictive. Not to say I can really contribute much though- I learn far more than I give out.

Let's face it ... the site has become a community ... and some people just like to hang round the edges and listen into the conversations ... you get that in pubs too where people will go out with friends and not chat much but still have a fantastic night out.

A monthly email reminder is still top of my wishlist, as is a monthly synopsis of discussions ... but that takes time to prepare, something that most of us have little to spare.
