Where do we go from here? BETT was an utterly amazing time for us. Suddenly the educational IT industry realised that many, many hundreds of us had all been talking about them behind their backs, and after they had gone away for a bit and looked at what we had been saying they all approved and now lots of them want to work with us.
Many wish to advertise, provide sponsorship and even training. Many services we didn’t even know existed suddenly appeared at the stand. did you know their was a national jobs agency specialising in education techy jobs? We didn’t, but now they want to sponsor they jobs forum and let you all know about them and the opportunities they offer.
A very large international media\publishing company want to work closely with us in many different areas. I will let you know more about this later once we have got some firmer things to announce.
Financially we will be in a lot firmer position to host more conferences (I promise you Scotland that we will do one up there in the next 12 months, and the west country upon the introduction of paved roads and the wheel), get the dedicated server we so urgently need for EduGeek v2.0 and provide a better presence at BETT 2008.
We are now out of the closet guys (and gals) and the educational world now knows we are here. We are living in interesting times.

How about exhibiting at another IT Show, that northern one that I have forgotten the name of, but was held in Bolton FC wasnt it? Of course its BETT 2008, 9, and onwards. Well done guys, I really appreciate people being here.

Until the big grey BSF cloud comes for our jobs, I hope we can look forward to an ever-evolving and improving community thanks to the presence at BETT

lol
We do have to have day jobs as well you know.
Wuld love to go to every it show the fact is cost and time bett costs over 2k and that is based on the fact we had the stand free.... Then take into account time it just ain't possible so better for us to concentrate on one big show like BETT.

BETT cost way over 2K and it was only through the kind help of a number of suppliers and other companies ... some of which were not bothered about even allowing us to make a song and dance about their help.
The stand at BETT 2008 is already a work in progress and we should have the same stand too. Trying to do lots of shows will be a full time job and likely to be a few years before we can do that.
Rather than concentrate on shows we want to contentrate on some more regional training workshops so that you guys at the chalkface get more benefit out of your membership with EduGeek.
Those of you in the LgFL area may see a bit more of me soon ... (ie the *London* Grid for Learning .. not the Lancs one) and rather than talk vapourware all we can say is keep an eye out to see what comes up over the next 6 months (including a more central conference this year).

Well done guys, I can appreciate all the effort involved to something like BETT up and running. To have made it a success at the first attempt deserves a standing ovation
Hopefully I'll be there next year - trying to get things done before I go away on a course
Those of us that didn't make it did actually manage to babysit the forums though

I'll second that.
and the west country upon the introduction of paved roads and the wheel
Christ, we need electric light & gas first before them bl**dy horseless carriages come and pollute the countryside. (There's nothing like a drunken stagger home through the fields - and BTW: - nobody, but nobody falls down and comes up smelling of roses down here.)

After everybody 's hard work who were involved with last week I'm sure that the 'Shiny New Server' that you've all been longing for will only be the 'Tip of the Iceberg'

Thanks to all involved. Not very hopeful of ever being allowed to come to BETT, but am more hopeful of possibilities offered by regional training workshops. Great to know that people in the big world of supply are beginning to sit up and take notice, and being helpful moreover. This is obviously the site to be a member of!!
