I've been so busy\ill\bewildered recently I'd forgotten I'd done that. Yes, it's me and it has been edited down a little but the message is there I think

Well said DB - stating our plight in a polite and light hearted way. However, do we know how many school staff actually get to read the magazine? Will your plea for recognition fall on the deaf ears that many of us encounter every day?

That said my school has suddenly begun to recognise the importance of the IT technician - I wonder how that could have happened

Oh how I would love for that to be printed several dozen times and left laying in the staff room!
Isn't it wasn't so obvious who it had come from, I'd do it!

But it would be taken in completely the wrong way, of course.

    Excellent piece though.

Shame it couldn't find its way into the Times Educational Supplement or some other prime 'teachers reading' where someone, somewhere (Ed Balls anyone?) could actually think "yeah, this guy is right - we DO need to train these guys in current technology, and we DO need to pay them accordingly.

I fear a pink thing with wings may have just flown by my window.

Well Said Chris, Infact i think it is spot on.. Sums up the problems that we are having alot latley and i think i am going to be putting a copy of this on certain peoples desk's as i think if they have a read, if they have any sense it might turn on a light bulb.

Very nicely worded DB, I hope that this message reaches far and wide as I think that if it was more widely known and accepted it would prompt a change for the better in education as a whole.

Had I still been employed by Lancashire CC I doubt I could have written it without getting shouted at tomorrow!

Excellent Article Chris very well worded clearly a lot of passion and feelings from here is embedded in that report, I just hope many in schools see it, especially at SLT level. One thing that will restrict that is the cost of the magazine, certainly we no-longer subscribe at work due to the cost which is a shame, but I will pass that PDF onto a couple of people in school just to highlight a point

I shall go and check that to see what the teachers think about 'non-teachers' getting training

Yes, so I see, and hopefully I've rattled some cages by actually responding and also by posting a link to said article in the "ICT" forum of TES

It's about time our careers were progressed in line with our corporate colleagues.
