The EduGeek.net Technical Help Point returns to stand G89 for the fourth year at BETT 2010. In addition to helping visitors match their technical needs with exhibitors at BETT and answering their technical questions, we will also have a wide range of information and best practices for technical support staff, such as Green IT and Virtualisation.
Visitors also have the chance to download or take away the latest versions of our free products that help educational IT support professionals with their job.
This year, we have new initiatives such as our proof of concept 'server- room-in-a-box', a lightweight & fully functioning portable schools network, and also our new software EduMove
The ‘server-room-in-a-box’ is completely composed of items bought off-the-shelf, and has many possibilities. The solution contains all the components to run a modern network, including a Smoothwall (*see below) combined firewall and web filter, and Ruckus (** see below) managed wireless system. This solution is ideal for where space is limited, such as Primary Schools who do not have the luxury of a full server room.
Our EduMove software has been designed for EduGeek.net in association with OP Software.(*** see below) It facilitates IT support staff migrate files from one server to another, and as well as migrating the files, it updates the user’s home path in Active Directory and preserves folder permissions.
