    Advertisers

As of tomorrow PM (sometime) our advertising module will go live in a fashion. A supplier is deperate and wants to get his wares (note: not WAREZ) publised through us. So I shall work out a link from the homepage to EduGeek Ads (www.edugeek.net/edugeekad) and we can all say hello to 1st Technolgies. They specialise in second user high end equipment such as thin client stations and servers. Trust me, you really will want to get some gear off them as they are VERY cheap. They also give you a warrenty if the manufacturers one has run out.
All this also means that we will be getting money in for BETT, so this should take a load off from Russ and Tony and their fund raising efforts, but will also remove the need for banner\tower ads. We may however have one banner ad which will be quite expensive, again, this is to ensure that our BETT presence is all we hope it will be.

I suppose EduGeek need the money but mightn't this stiffle honest comment.

If only people had donated more.

    Re: Advertisers

The problem is that we are larger than many appreciate and we will pretty soon need our own server. For this we need a reliable source of income. Will will also be investing in more events and lots of other shiny things. Not in a Carribean island for me and mine.

    Re: Advertisers

I dont think it will mainly as members will always be honest and we as site will not remove, censor a comment because it says something negative against a advertiser.

As db said we cant just go on way we are we need source of income for stuff we do.

For example conference putting on we have to find someone to cover cost of lunch that day that is approx 330 quid for 30 people.

The server issue is becoming a major issue and we will need our own server (I am working on that somone hopfuly is going to give us a good deal if we do get one)

So unless there is lottery winner out there ready to fund us we have to go this route..

    Re: Advertisers

I also believe that advertising can only be beneficial to members and will not stifle honesty.

By making sure that our advertisers are trustworthy to begin with this should help. For instance, 1st Technologies is my preferred supplier and they are very good to work with. I suppose that if we did put a post up about a supplier being rubbish, they would stop advertising with us anyway
