    'Linux' forum renamed to '*nix'

    This has been done so that we can post problems for any Unix-like OS in there.
    then merge OSX ?

    The thing with Macs is that *nix is only one layer of what you need to look at ... with the Mac forum you are also looking at Aqua, Cocoa, Quartz ... and that is not even starting on iLife, iWorks, ports or software from other flavours of *nix to OSX ... and then there is the server aspect of OSX Server with workgroup management, QTSS, etc ...

    And then we have the hardware too ... iMacs, eMacs, G4s, G5s, Apple IIs, Classics, iPods ...

    Am I seeing things two threads witht the same name?

    Anyway on a serious point, the forum should probably be renamed 'Linux,BSD, and UNIX-like.

    *nix is shorthand used by the cognoscenti but people starting out may be less aware. :

    I wanted to keep a short heading... you will find the description of the topic rattles off the list of OS examples.
