I wouldn't have partnered EduGeek up with them if I was not happy that the service was good enough for our members schools.
October last year it took 4 send backs to get a hard disk replaced. They kept saying it was not broken, yet RIS or WDS or the CD would not rebuild the laptop. If i changed the hard disk my self it built fine, but we paid for a 3 year extended warrenty so were not paying for a new disc, faulty one back in and send off They even had the cheek to say on one send back that the computer needed Windows re-installing and wanted to charge us £50.
Then there is the laptop thats been back over 14 times and still is not fixed so we just gave up
Also the lack of XP drivers for there laptops that come with Vista pre loaded is poor, and there response of "it did not come with XP so why would we put XP drivers for download" is not a good one
On the plus side is there a replacement model for the Aspire 5310? I did like those for kids to use as they seemed to take batterings quite well.

They are still refusing to replace a faulty HDD here. They want the whole laptop back, which we can't do as it's in use again. The faulty 80GB SATA Toshiba HDD is sitting on my desk edging towards the bin. The customer service through ACER was rubbish and we will not be entertaining any of their products for use in the school.
HP can ship a new HDD out within two days from the Netherlands and trust the customer to use the box again to send the faulty one back, why can't Acer?
Which is why we have someone (Acer-Man) you can contact directly to raise hell on your behalf. One thing I wanted to be sure of was not just having a sales rep running away with you cash and leaving you stranded. Acer-Man will be contactable via the forums, IE the Outlet feedback forum: EduGeek Outlet Feedback
And via the phone if you get their number from the site.

I am sorry that you have experianced problems but I will not let that happen to any of my customers. If you buy PCs or Laptops off us and are not happy with them I will buy them back, that is how certian I am that Acer can supply what you need. (Boring bit: This is subject all the normal T&Cs etc.. please contact me for details)
I am Acer Man, let me be your answer to problem free IT!
Hmm, quite a good idea. Although two "problems" come to mind...
1) What about us who dont use/like Acer kit? (Delete as needed)
2) I'm sure there are some other schools like us who cant use the ordering online feature. I assume if we ever need to order anything via this system, it can be via the normal quote + fax + invoice method?
Oh, and any chance another forum will pop up *just* for technical advice for educational techies? :P
You can always support edugeek by asking the other forums sponsors for quotations & support1) What about us who dont use/like Acer kit? (Delete as needed)

Must admit I am a little surprised at this move, the site seemingly endorsing one brand and one sponsor over the others. Personally I won't use Acer again and would rather contact a company like CPLTD to get the best deal across the whole range of brands available.
I understand that the site would do everything it can to get the best deal for its members, and in reality its nothing to do with me, just surprised is all.
Thanks for your posts, in answer to questions:
Yes we can (and already have) provide quotes.
We require a PO to accept any orders.
Yes we will (and already have) provide invoices.
Yes we only stock Acer on EduGeek Outlet. If we provided every model from every vendor I would not feel confident that my staff and I would understand all the models. Also by limiting to one brand we ensure the backup of Acer giving you peace of mind.
All of the sponsers on EduGeek have the schools needs at the forefront of their decisions. I would expect Acer Outlet to provide the best level of Acer support, but for other vendors I would suggest you ask either SCL or CPLTD both very knowledgable in their fields.
Hope that helps.
ooo, well dodged!
It's ok, i just wanted to ask out in the open. We have a to preference... im sure most schools have a preference to one type of brand.
I just dont think i'd like edugeek to become specialised in one certain brand. (Not that I have a choice mind you! :P)
