19th January 2009, 01:37 PM #1 A Big BETT Thank You
Well, what a week. All the admins have lost their voices we have been talking that much, EduGeek has finally pushed deep into the dark corners of the educational IT market who have never hear of us, and we rubbed shoulders with the big companies who are going to ensure we have a big and bright future.
Don't worry, we are not selling out, in fact I made this quite clear to several 'sharks' who circled us throughout the week. In fact we should be able to hold bigger and better conferences for you, as well as getting your views noticed in much higher places than you eve thought possible. SO firstly may I say a big thank you to:
Tony - For organising the entire thing and having us keep quiet about his retirement all week.
Shaun - For getting the tabbed forums to work and GEOIP. This is going to be HUGE!
The Admins - Everyone gave 100% and the effort showed in the level of fatigue felt later in the week.
The Stand Staff - Thanks guys. It was wonderful to see so many of you again, and you really made a difference.
Net-Ctrl\Ruckus - You guys ROCK!!!
The Cutter Project - For the loan of the Sun kit and providing support.
Navaho - For the nice digital signage kit to brighten the stand.
Smooth Wall - For the 'net connection and smoothies. And also proving that you can work the morning after consuming enough alcohol to fell an elephant!
Axel - For getting one of their terminals on the stand for us all to see.
Robosavvy - Because kung-fu robots are cooler than a cool thing, and lending one to use was an act of kindness.
Our members who visited - You brightened all of our days, and it is always nice to put faces to names.
Joe (Joedetic) - For the comment 'If only Pink Floyd were women'. It was the best thing I'd heard all week.
Pizza Express - For feeding you guys at a reasonable price.
D-Zyne Graphics and Print - For doing such an excellent, prompt and well priced job on the shirts and signs.
Virgin Trains - Left Preston at 15:55 and we were in the Lobby of the hotel at 16:20. That's FAST!
Now for some low points:
The sharks: For wanting us to sell out
Me - For losing Rics return train ticket and me having to buy a new one.
London - For giving me a 2 day pollution induced headache
Holiday Inn - For not giving us breakfasts on 2 of the rooms and it costing £200 to buy them at £11 per breakfast.
London cabbies - For leaving us standing by the side of the road outside Olympia because 'I'm not going that way guvnor', When that is exactly the direction they head off in!
Things I can't mention yet - Not happy with some things that occurred.
Not having time to look around properly - Maybe next year. You guys were worth it though.
Rics dads car - Ric was supposed to pick me up to take me to the station in a Land Rover. The Hyundi Coupe was a little tight for my liking!
All in all an incredible week. Thank you everyone.

Can we also add e-force (aka e-farce) to the low points for their complete lack of ability when it comes to provisioning an internet connection?
