LanSchool Technologies LLC, a leading provider of classroom management software, announced at Macworld that LanSchool v7.2 will support Apple Macs as students on January 26, 2009.

With this new feature, LanSchool becomes one of the first classroom management vendors to support both PC and Macs as students.

“Over the past year the requests from districts wanting one classroom management solution for both platforms increased significantly,” said Ben Cahoon, Vice President of LanSchool. “Supporting both PCs and Macs will help teachers and administrators as they strive to improve the learning environment in their computer-based classrooms.”

The Mac student is compatible with both PowerPC and Intel hardware. The supported operating systems are v10.4 and v10.5. The console is currently only available on Windows. However, the console will run under Parallels or VMWare on the Mac. A native Mac console will be available mid-2009 that will manage both PCs and Macs.

Most of the LanSchool features currently available on the PC student are available on the Mac. The only features that are not available are Voting, Testing and Allowing/Blocking specified websites.

These features will be available soon.
