    Polite reminder

Remember this is public forum and what you say can be seen by your boss, your LA, your mum

At times even a subject in a post (even through the post is ok and nothing bad in it) can get you into hot water as one member has found out this week.

Also if not in union go join times members have had issues and first thing we say is go see your union and they are not a member. If your work in a school or if post on here you need to be in a union just to protect yourself.

This has been a public service message for Edugeek.net

    Regards

    Russell

I can only wholeheartedly agree with what Russdev has said, and give my farewells and thanks to Edugeek, best of luck to you all. Lets face it, in this industry we need as much luck as we can get.

This is one of the reasons that some organisations choose to block forums. Most of the time this is counterproductive but they do it anyway. We are trying to allow things to be more closely monitored, but its hard to convince folk that monitoring sometimes beats blocking.

Having said that, I think you are potentially overestimating the IT aptitude of my parents at least

Sorry to see you go Jake

Russ- any chance of a rough idea of the 'sorts' of things that can get us into trouble?
Not specifics if you don't want to, but I think some members need a bit more info so that they are a little more savvy about what to write at times!

I've got in 'trouble' lots of times. Generally because:

    A) My manager/SMT doesn't understand the technical aspect of my job (Got this a lot when I used to do primary schools).
    B) My LEA misconfigures/misunderstands something or doesn't follow best practice and I point it out. Usually with working examples.

I can provide a detailed list if you want witch?

I apply the basic rule: If I have not said it to their face (i.e. the relevant person(s) in the school) and it is confidential, I don't say it here. That way, no one should be surprised. I do concede however, that some people have to use this forum to sound off as they cannot get a hearing or they are accorded so little respect that their views are ignored. I joined a union last week.

Thanks Witch, its not my choice to go, but my hand has been forced. Been a laugh over the years though (and informative from time to time )

Hope you pop in time to time. A little bit of insanity gone from the forum. Hmmm, who is going to up their game to fill the void?

    Have fun.
