I'm with UNISON as well. Best check who your Shop Steward is for what union. Reason I joined UNISON was because of how good our Shop Steward was.

I hate unions. The only people shop stewards are interested in is themselves.

I could, but of course now I will forever be wondering if my every post is being watched by the powers that be, merely even asking Capita for help or seeking support here could again land me in all manner of troubles. Heaven forbid should I go somewhere other than my LA for Sims support.

Well as union rep I have to say your wrong. I am only the union rep as I am one knows most about this kind of stuff, I play politics all the time and unions and SLT are all about politics. I was asked by unions members to do it.

My interest in getting you lot singed to a union is purley I have seen it from other side with members who get into major hot water from posting on here.

Secondly myself I am in union as when you work with young people you are at risk of being accused etc etc. I am sorry you could be innocent if it gets out your career is over.

Yes blanket statements are the best way to debate things

This is a really important point. If this ever happens you need all the support you can get.

If I went to work worrying about being accused of something I would never go to work.

Pah, Unions are useless anyway. I won't say which Union I joined but it is a very big one. I had to request 5 times to sign up. Got no response. It was then through chance that I bumped into a nice Union steward who put all the paper work through for me - only took 6 months.

I then needed to speak with a rep over something that started 3/4 months ago. After numerous phone calls and emails to the Union I'm no further forward. In fact I've now given up on the matter and will employ a lawyer if anything ever comes of it.

I know this forum isn't for rants and I'm not trying to rant so sorry if it comes across like that. I just thought I would let people know that I have had no good experiences of being a Union.
