    There will be teachers there!

Or is your plan to redirect all queries to the relevant vendors.

"Problem with an RM PC madam? The RM stand is over there"

"Problem with SIMS? The Capita stand is over there. Collect your baseball bat over there. Yes it is a long queue sir."

mad is word that is branded around a lot but might be an apt way of describing us..

    as for rest well...

plan is to offeer advice so it might be that we suggest that something is good for them but we are not info point...

So if they have problem with rm pc then we will give advice on how to help with it...

idea is place to come that can get advice, it is not vendor ased it is advice from people working in schools...

It's finally happened! The donations target has been met (and exceeded by £40 at time of writing). The main thing to note is that nearly 3/4 of the total has been met by commercial entities. This is true testament that you've got a hot property.

Well done Dos_Box, Russ, Tony, Ric, ChrisH and all the others that make EduGeek such a great site.

    Isn't BETT pointless...

    Re: EduGeek at BETT 2007

well come and visit us first stand to offer you 'technical help' second is bett pointless no and here is why...

    1) publicity we don’t opportunity to show edugeek off and getting chance to tell hell lot of people cant remember attendance figures from last year but numbers not to be sniffed at..

    2) it is chance to connect with various people, if noticed bett is nothing to do with products when you visit bett you visit to network and more connections we make more stuff we can do in terms of getting funding etc.....

    3) This is first time bett have had some for technical staff and this major step for bett second if goes well plans I want to make for doing next years bett will be exciting.

On the tat selling point for last two years bett gone through a slump and this mainly due to nature of education lot of exciting stuff not come online yet but i get feeling this year will be different and lot more exciting and new stuff..

But another point with bett is yes 1000 stands but only 10/20 true good stands (hopefully edugeek.net will be one of them) and may grommit want to come down and be our roving reporter for bett founding the real good stands for us...

If I could get the time off work to spend 3 days roving around for you I would love to but I don't think that would be at all possible in my current position

FWIW BETT is still one of the better shows I go to - of the others, only InfoSec is keeping up. Lots of previously huge shows now don't even exist. We (SmoothWall) are doing RSA San Fran in Feb - first time there so we'll see what the Americans are up to!

    Re: EduGeek at BETT 2007

One of the good things about InfoSec is that it is run hand-in-hand with the IT Support and Helpdesk show ... and the other year you also had Document Management too ...

Favourite seminars include demonstrations of hardening IIS, sniffing WiFi connections, MMC task panes for delegation of tasks and how to speak to staff (Have you tried turning it off and on again?).

BETT is getting better (excuse the pun) and the drive this year is for less sales to heads / teachers who don't understand the long words and more an explaination of what things can do for improving learning, as well as an emphasis on *whole school* CPD (yes, that includes us too!!!).

Most companies now are aware that staff are switched on to technical mumbo jumbo and that it will get passes on to techies to translate and so they are changing the sales pitch ... so there should be fewer white elephants.

Exhibitors are putting the final touches to their information and hopefully we should have a basic guide for people to look at within the next two weeks ... we are reliant on exhibitors keeping their information up to date ... and I'll be honest, I know of at least 3 major exhibitors that decide what they are doing on their stand and what the focus will be for BETT during parties between christmas and new year.

Keep you eye peeled on this site, including links to register for the show.
