Vampire threads and killing them in a humorous way

Following something which Grumbledook said on the staff forum and seeing an old BBC article raised again today I'm wondering whether we mods should be able to kill vampire threads (they keep coming back from the dead) with a funny logo and lock it out. This will not affect threads dealing with recursive but relevant issues.
    What do you think?

Voted to lock although I think some threads are better extended. In the beginning there was a lot of fuss over duplicate threads, and people being told off for not searching or raising the same topic twice. Just don't want there to be any confusion.

I think that'd be a great title (or sub header) for the vampire threads area Tom

Could we have a no, leave alone option?
Vampire threads are only vampire threads if people resurrect them. Surely it would be better to ask them not to unnecessarily drag up old threads. That way if an old thread is relevant it can be re-used or resurected. Also if a stupid thread is constatnly resurrected it can be locked in the normal way. Seems overkill to create a whole area and system for it.

    Unles I'm missing something

There's a fine line to be trodden between keeping useful information together and easily found, and bringing back threads better off left buried.

A Mod judgement call methinks. If it is ephemera, by all means kill it off sometime in the future...

Or like this one, http://www.edugeek.net/index.php?nam...ewtopic&t=4699 should have a wooden stake through the heart! :axe: (closest emoticon I could see!)
