In all honesty, who is going wear a T-Shirt with Edugeek on it?Originally Posted by Dos_Box
Why not have a straw Poll on the matter? Surely that will tell if there's any point changing the logo.
I know I wouldn't. Over the years I've collected T-Shirts with brands ranging from Oki to Sophos, and guess what? I wouldn't be seen dead in one.
I thoroughly enjoy Edugeek, but I'm not willing to advertise you for free on my body. Same goes for Nike et al.

Because of the witty and topical comments that they will have on them. Besides, with that logo, no one will dare steal a mug with it on!In all honesty, who is going wear a T-Shirt with Edugeek on it?
I can now see why many actors don't read the reviews of their films!
Now a mug, is a different matter. I'd happily have an Edugeek Mug. My redstor mug is getting rather stained.Originally Posted by Dos_Box
I think you're looking at changing the logo for the wrong reasons, that's all. Find a strong and memorable logo by all means, but don't do it just so it looks good on a T-Shirt.
Sorry if my previous comment sounded harsh. I was being honest though.

Me. Why are you so against wearing EduGeek clothing?Originally Posted by Skoggmeiger
I'm not. I personally wouldn't wear it. I rarely wear anything with a logo or brand. I just think there seems to be too much emphasis on creating a logo so it looks good on t-shirts etc, when I don't believe that many folk would wear one.Originally Posted by webman
Ok who wants to volunteer to have the new logo shaved into their head and photo'd for the site?Originally Posted by Skoggmeiger

Back on topic though, the key reason you'd want a more professional logo is when it comes to getting sponsorship and/or advertising. Something, erm "gangsta" (to quote Teddy) may not appeal so much to Joe Bloggs Ltd so there's plenty of reasons to have something outwardly professional.
I would prob wear an edugeek T-shirt. If it had a humerous slogan on it, say mentioning Latvian Donkey porn for example. Someone should create one, say in response to a competition and win a fantastic prize...... Hang on, this sounds familiar....
Well except for the prize![]()

We gave prizes outto the winners

I know, I was a runner up but I never got it. Although looking back, it wasn't the donkey porn Tee that was awarded, it was one of my other entries. No worries though. I totally forgot about it until now so my own fault, though I reserve the right to bring it up at any point![]()

I shall repeat this again. We will have a more 'formal version too. The one most suitable for the site will go up. The version shown is merely a 'beta' with which I am gathering opinions from.
We do however, need a stronger logo as when we do events like BETT we need to project something a lot more confidant than the current one.
As regards to finding advertising, that has now been taken care of with our contract with IDG Communications. They will be finding our advertisers in the future to ensure we have a cash flow and can organise more free conferences for you guys as well as offering some other goodies in the future!
A bolder logo will also help to make us a bit more recognisable too. We are starting to push almost 4 million (real) hits a month now, and need something to ensure even brief visitors can remember us.
The current logo was never meant to be permanent, but has served us for over 2 years now. With the new site we need to bring it up to date, and more importantly have the original unedited versions (which I think we have lost!) for modification into other forms.
I know a lot of people like the current version, but it simply is not strong enough, and any attempts to make it so would simply change it from its current look anyway! I hope to have an updated version (taking in comments already made) available from next week, as well as the more formal one. I agree that the horns may need toning down a bit though.

Most intended t-shirt slogans may not be to work friendly I suspect. Perhaps now would be a time to look for suggestions.Originally Posted by TechMonkey

Strong logos ? My god, whatever next......it simply is not strong enough
Next thing people will want a 'green' element towards the logo like the out of touch Tories did.....
