It had been mentioned previously and I have recently been hassled to get 'with it' for all this social networking stuff.
In my day social networking was going down the pub ... but you youngsters want something a bit more up to date ...
Have fun.

Oops ... nearly forgot to mention that the same post discussing facebook (in april this year) someone also asked about MySpace.
http://groups.myspace.com/edugeek was set up a while ago.
I am 26, and the likes of facebook and myouspace completely suck.... example
hey man did you have a good night tonight
me: yeh i was chating to you, drank loads of beer and shaged a lass
lass: good shag
me: of course
friend: awsome, see you again tomorrow
really what is the point in mspace and fbook?
closed both accounts down, I personally think i takes socialising away and if you et up somthing like a facebook account for edugeek, people may start to comunicate through there..... now im completely hammered and correct me if im completelt wrong , out of order, talking jiba jabba but edugeek does not need that
all respect Tony, Russ.... but is it really needed....
ps... been drinkiing guinness stella, JD coke, and watching the strippers. so please take it easy on me for what i have said.... peace

The discussion forum on the group is turned off and has a few features that are not present in EduGeek )or likely to be in Secundus either) ... and these tend to be the more frivolous things ... like 'superpoke' allowing you not just to give friends a gentle nudge to update what they are up to, but to throw sheep, slap, drop kick, tickle, kiss, pet (damn ... better make sure Jake's cage is locked before I continue ...) and so
It is just 'yet another thing' ... and I would rather we set up the group rather than someone grab the name.

I think point of facebook and this is my view is not about 'what i did down the pub' even through it is on there for sure. It is about finding common ground between people.
Also don't worry about people moving away from forum social networks make it easy to talk on a one to one basises. But trying to have a mass discussion on social netwoks is not most easiest thing.
Also I have got ways of combating the problem of people moving to facebook and not coming on here.
Anyway just my 2p worth...
Russ

Hehehe. Someone is gonna have a long morning tomorrow.
I believe my signature sums up my thoughts on "un-Social Networking"
