I put my pendrive in - doesn't work - try another port -that doesn't work :(

I walk back to suite to get another pendrive - Assistant Head comes along and asks if I've left a pendrive in a computer - I explain that it doesn't work and I'm getting a new one - come with me he says - I think I've fixed that for you

On the supportive side, I've had days like that, where the most simple things on any other day were hidden from me. Like spending a whole hour and a half looking through DNS and event logs to figure out what was going on only to figure out that one of the DNS servers was offline.

it's also weird how many USB drives fit into a network port...

And Apples maglock for macbooks is the same size as a USB port too...

Do any of these inventors actually have computers or is it just a cunning plan to get users to wreck their laptop so they need to buy a new one?

More worrying is @SimpleSi that you touched a computer running Windows 7 were you feeling really unwell that day?

my usual gaff is using the wrong mouse or keyboard while working on a machine where I have attached an alternative device to test the one I am using...

oh and also removing a sink trap, draining it into a bucket and then emptying the bucket into the sink that has no trap...you see my error here I hope... :o

actually it has just occurred to me that you seem to have free access to your head's computer AND his SIMS account...

...silly me, he probably leaves his account details on the desk like our head...security, what security?

Why is your head logging in locally on the computer? Why does it appear there isn't a DHCP server on the network?

Don't be mean, he probably had to drag them kicking and screaming from punchcards, at least it is running Windows 7 and Office 2010 which is more than some schools manage.
