VB Express 2010 - CC4
We have recently installed VB Express 2010 in a class of PCs on our RM CC4 network. after adding some file path rules into temp areas the projects run fine, once the project is saved the programs will not run. this would be as it is now trying to run from their n: drive which is not allowed to run .exe files.
does any one have a workaround?
Well depends what you call "work around". Generally the options are, Let them run exe's (Not best idea), or virtual pc for use with coding. Unless you want to limit running of exes to a single "place" for VB, but then you'll need millions of fixes to stop other exes being moved there, blahblahblahblah
I suppose you could mandate that the users save their exes into a specifically named folder with a specific name and then you can do a path rule to allow that particular file name to be run from n:\whatever dir\whatever exe.
Don't really know how feasible this would be though.
I think most other Staffs schools have gone down the VM route for this (mainly because of the time/effort spent getting VB Express to work)
What would the point of that be though? :) Either you're giving them permissions to just copy any exe in there and rename it and it'll run, or just write the "bad" code in the file you're allowed to run.

We have it installed on Virtual PC, they can drag their saved files to their N drive to ensure they are backed up and then drag them back to the virtual pc to work on them.
I was mostly just thinking out loud when I typed that as an answer to the original query. :-)
Certainly not something that I would suggest as an acceptable solution.
