Too bloody right! Why hasn't this happened already?

I agree his war effort be recognized but most people in the 1950 thought homosexuality was wrong and it was the Law at the time.

Long, long overdue. They apologised in 2009 but tbh, there's not enough the government could do to right the tragic wrong done to Turing.

And Oscar Wilde too? (Yes, I think we should)

But where does this stop? Apologising is fine and should be done more often, in the light of 'more enlightened times' but laws change over time and you can't go backwards and overturn decisions made when things were very different

If they* can arrest you in one country for something that happened in another country [and is legal there] they can go back and admit it was wrong.

They don't want to do it because there are lots of living men who were prosecuted for this, and they don't want a precedent set that would lead to all of those people demanding a pardon too.

It was announced in 2010 that the criminal records for these offences were going to be expunged anyway, but I guess they don't want more legal campaigns on their hands for a full pardon?
