Re: ict technician interview
If your skills that you listed on your cv/application form didn't match their requirements you wouldn't have been invited for interview.
There have been several discussions on here regarding interviews and tests.
Don't panic too much it'll probably only be something quite simple.
If you don't know something remember don't give them some BS just say you don't know but you are willing to learn.
Enjoy it an interview is for you to decide if you want to work for an organisation as well.

Re: ict technician interview
could be a number of things.....
find out this machine won't boot/connect to the network/open a file
or an installation
or a hardware swap
Re: ict technician interview
Always check cable connections thoroughly.
If monitor is on, but black, check brightness/contrast.
Check IP settings on network interfaces.
Don't be afraid to ask anything else about the setup that may help you, or for a replacement component.
Event logs can be useful, sometimes.
If you don't know the answer, say so.. but also say where you would go to find out the answer (eg. manual, internet, colleagues..)
Re: ict technician interview
I will give you a few tips, be honest, be yourself and don't worry about any test or tasks.
I have a fair amount of experience interviewing and devising ICT tests for technician rolls, and the decision to offer a candidate the job normally comes down to personality and how well the candidate will fit into the school.
It also depends on the response to the vacancy and number of applications they have received, I often find the school will not have that many to choose from unless they are offing a sensible salary for the position.
Remember skills like networking etc can be learnt, and most schools would rather employ an enthusiastic candidate who has the right aptitude and will fit in well at the school.

Re: ict technician interview
We always tell give the candidates a brief description on what will be expected in the test 3 days before the interview but we never give too much away.

Re: ict technician interview
Good luck and as everyone else has said, if you are vaguely competent with a computer the task should be a breeze. It won't involve the servers. There will be things like the machine won't boot, check for discs, cables etc... a file won't open check extension of it etc...
Re: ict technician interview
Also if you don't get the job ask for feedback - In 3 of my interviews I have realized 'me' didn't have anything to do with not getting the job - It was down to other factors (Such as internal candidates for example)
Re: ict technician interview

They will not ask you this question, but if they do I would just say I would not get involved but find the nearest available member of teaching staff and report the incident to them

Don't worry about three people, they can only ask you questions one at a time, just keep eye contact with the person asking you the question, and forget the others are there.
