I think an Edugeek group is necessary... can we ex-pat Edugeekers join as well?!
It was blocked at our old school, as any 'social networking' site was (when I was there, anyway).
I prefer Facebook to MySpace as users feel no need to 'pimp' their spaces, one standard format seems to work well, for all. It's clean, simple and easy to manage (in my view).
Blocked by our LEA here, must confess I had never heard of it before this thread. (not really my thing these sites), will have to take a look at it tonight at home now and see what its all about
No reason why we can't start an 'EduGeek - We know the answers and are not going to tell you them...' group :)

Im on it though, love it. Never really liked myspace but facebook is great. Not really got in touch with any old friends yet but its a good way to keep in touch with current friends and upload pictures from nights out or just old pictures
I like to think of it as a grown up myspace - no need for a page full of stupid flash gadgets, videos and backgrounds which render the text unreadable

Yep first got the myspace bug now im fighting off the shanty looking myspace and moving onto facebook, always find im laughing more at which groups people have joined (dont forget to sign up to the 'Official rules of shotgun' group - will always come in handy for those friend and a family trips out :)

And yes, as some of you know, I have a profile.
I had a long discussion with one of our DHs last week about Facebook & also YouTube - neither of which were blocked.
My point of view was that it was not worth filtering either. Both have real positive aspects and the negative ones won't actually go away if the sites are filtered in school, as the kids will still use both of them out of school anyway.
He agreed - so the sites remain unfiltered. As ever, we encourage vigilance in our computer rooms, which so far hasn't rung any alarm bells.

Blocked here and I am on both MySpace and Facebook but I hate all the apps that I keep getting bombarded with on Facebook.
I find facebook to complex to be honest
