I was walking home yesterday afternoon and a Fast Response Paramedic hit his siren just as he was alongside me. Apart from making me jump, the noise hurt my right ear and it still doesn't feel right. I emailed West Mids Ambulance Service suggesting it was a Health and Safety issue.
I don't think the noise at an F1 event can be good for the hearing.
like @john said, we went to silverstone last year, only for the sunday mind, but the day was great and the atmosphere was awesome!! The cars are so loud that if you are going to any F1 event take some earplugs or ear defenders (though it depends where abouts you are sat/stood). I was on the corner of chapel and the ear plugs did their job but to be fair the noise still managed to get through them, esp the ferrari engines. I am hoping to go back again this year (just as general admission) but they are planning on banning the blown diffuser for silvestone so if it gets banned we wont be able to hear the actual noise it makes.
Even the motogp bikes are loud, again, i was there last year stood on club corner and the ducatis engines were much louder than the rest.
I'm sure it's not, but if we all stopped doing stuff that was bad for us we'd not get out of bed in the morning.
